Sexual-Harassment-Related

Being singled out and forced to accept an unwanted gift (e.g. from your boss) as a “reward for
    your hard work.”

Being invited to a private dinner for two through supervisory/ work-related email
Being pressured to attend a voluntary drinking party, due to “a shortage of female attendees.”
Having your marriage/ pregnancy treated as some sort of “problem”, “inconvenience,” or
    “nuisance”

Unwelcome remarks made about your physical appearance, attire, and figure
Being ambushed and asked to “go home together” by someone who pursues you romantically
Being pressed to talk about your dating history
Receiving constant and excessive emails/ comments on social networking sites, based on
    someone’s one-sided, wrong impression

Having your activities and email correspondence constantly scrutinized by your romantic
    partner against your will

Being forced to endure in an atmosphere that is inconsiderate of sexual diversity   (e.g. discriminatory remarks toward sexual minorities such as LGBT)
 

Academic-Harassment-Related

Getting yelled at/ ignored by your faculty/sempai
Being subjected to harsh, degrading remarks that negate your character: “You are so
    incompetent.”
Having your thesis neglected and unattended by your “always busy” supervisor for a long time,
    even though you have requested supervision multiple times
Being denied First Author status despite the fact that you actually wrote that academic paper
Every lab member’s activities are strictly controlled by the supervisor
At times when you are unable to produce the experimental result that your supervisor
    expects, allusions to data falsification are made: “You know what to do, don’t you?”
Not being allowed to conduct research-related activities (e.g. giving a presentation at a
    conference, submitting a paper to a journal, etc.) for no apparent reason
Feeling restricted and unable to voice your opinions freely in the lab, especially when it comes
    to criticism and objection toward your supervisor

Being told to give up on your degree, graduation or employment without any reasonable or just
   explanation related to your academic performance
 

 

Other Harassment-Related Behaviors

Being demanded to immediately answer your boss’s calls, even outside work hours. Failure to
    comply will be met with a harsh reprimand
Being told that you are “totally replaceable”
Being excluded from internal meetings without any information shared with you
Remarks, behavior and attitude negating your character/ competence: “Is this your best? Your
    best is not enough.”
Being unable to take a sick day because your boss has said, “Now is NOT the time for
    leisurely time off.”
Being denied overtime work pay by your boss due to a perceived “lack of time-management
    skills”, even though you stayed late because s/he had some impending work that “needed to
    be done within the day”
Being pestered for your LINE/ other SNS ID to become “friends” outside work
Having email defamation circulated among all the members in one’s office
Being forced to drink or perform a rather humiliating party stunt at a social gathering
